Ningbo Xiangshangang Bridge is the second grand cross-sea bridge in Ningbo. The foundation of the bridge platform adopts steel tube piles and steel protective tubes. The outer surfaces of them are treated with anti-corrosion according to the design requirements. Considering the water velocity during the fluctuation tide, the most outward steel tube of the transverse bridge is set as an inclined pile to enhance the overall stability of the steel tube pile and the platform.
The total length of the project is about 47 kilometers, of which the cross-bay bridge is about 6.7 kilometers long, the north shore connection line is about 25 kilometers long, and the south connection line is about 15 kilometers long. The two-way four-lane highway bridge has a designed speed of 100 km/h with a roadbed width of 26 meters and a carriageway width of 15 meters. The main bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge with twin towers and double-cable steel box girders. The main towers in the north and south are diamond-shaped towers with a height of 225.5 meters and the main span of them is 688 meters.
Xiangshangang Bridge greatly changes the the traffic structure, industry structure and urban landscape of Xiangshan bay on both sides, and highlights the advantages of the area along the bay. It is conducive to the development of ecological tourism, marine fishery, shipbuilding, transportation and other industries, which can efficiently accelerate the development of marine economy in Ningbo.
